KINDERGARTEN SUPPORT FUND
Because Third Street School receives no federal Title One funding, Kindergarten families fund a much-needed Classroom Aide for the Kindergarten teachers through optional parent donations. The presence of this full-time aide allows teachers to have more time to focus on educational goals, and provides an added level of safety and security for children throughout the school day.
The suggested amount per child is $600 to help fund our extremely valuable kindergarten aide (plus a 10-week art program). Pay online via the form below, or leave a check in the office payable to Friends of Third, noted "Kinder Support Fund - Child's Name / Room #".
Why is there a special Kindergarten Support Fund at our school?
Because Third Street School receives no federal Title One funding, Kindergarten families fund a much-needed Educational Aide for the Kindergarten teachers through optional parent donations. The Kindergarten Aide is a full-time employee at Third Street, who assists teachers in each of the classrooms, and assists students during recess and lunch periods. The presence of this full-time aide allows teachers to have more time to focus on educational goals, and provides an added level of safety and security for children throughout the school day.
Does the Kindergarten Support Fund cover any other expenses?
In addition to the full-time Kindergarten Aide, the Kindergarten Support fund also provides a 10-week art program for kindergartners, developmentally-matched to their skills and needs, to enrich the curriculum that is also supplemented by ongoing Friends of Third programs such as Music, Technology Lab, Drama, Physical Education, and Library.
How much is the suggested donation? How can we pay?
To fund the Kindergarten Support positions for the next school year, we are requesting a contribution per student of $600. You can make your contribution online by credit or debit card. Online payments are processed by Stripe, our online payments processor.
Or, if you prefer to pay by check, you can drop off a check in the school main office. Checks should be made payable to "Friends of Third" with the note "Kindergarten Support Fund - your child's name / room number".
What happens if we don't contribute to the Kindergarten Support Fund?
Parent contribution to this fund is optional. Regardless of your ability to contribute, ALL students will be able to participate in any class/school activity.
However, if enough money cannot be raised for the Kindergarten Support Fund, these resources will be at risk of modification or elimination because it is entirely community-supported (with no funds coming from the Los Angeles Unified School District). If you cannot give the full requested amount, any amount will help us towards reaching the overall goal!
