Third Street Elementary is a K-5 public elementary school of academic distinction located in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Despite the ongoing cuts to programs and services by the school district, Third Street continues to thrive and to provide enriching programs for its students. Third Street's API (Academic Performance Index) score as of September 2011 is 939 (out of 1,000). This places Third Street in the top 2% of all elementary schools in Los Angeles.

Friends of Third is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports Third Street Elementary.  Through generous contributions of time and money from families, friends, co-workers and sponsors, FOT is able to fund such programs as a fully equipped computer lab and full-time instructor, a music program and instructor, a full-time library staff, physical education instruction, field trips, teacher stipends, a copy center and much more.

The PTA at Third Street is a great place to get involved with your child's education. PTA is a national organization with local school units whose mission is to provide a powerful voice for children, be a relevant resource for families and communities and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child. At Third Street Elementary, Friends of Third and the school's PTA team together on a number of initiatives.  Like FOT, PTA is also staffed by volunteers.
